Afghanistan’s Factories Double to 6,500 in Five Years

The number of active factories has risen from about 3,000 to 6,500, generating nearly 450,000 industrial jobs, according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Domestic production has expanded across food, pharmaceuticals, construction materials and other sectors. Electricity shortages, limited finances, transportation costs, and skilled labor gaps remain major constraints.
